CNN Academy Tokyo, the first CNN Academy program held in Japan, concluded successfully in August 2026 with a five-day in-person workshop hosted at Sophia University.

The Department of Journalism supported the hosting of CNN Academy Tokyo at Sophia University by assisting with on-campus coordination. The Department has offered an English-language journalism curriculum through the Sophia Program for Sustainable Futures (SPSF) since 2021, enabling students to pursue a degree in journalism through courses taught in English. In line with its commitment to expanding opportunities to study journalism in an international, English-language environment in Japan, the Department was pleased to support the realization of CNN Academy Tokyo at Sophia University.

The Department of Journalism congratulates CNN Academy on the successful completion of its inaugural program in Japan and is grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to its implementation at Sophia University.
