Hara from the Department of Global Studies discussed the development of his interests and how it affected his life as a university student. As a student who is majoring in international relations, Hara-san developed his academic interest based on how international relations could affect natural resources in Japan. Due to the complexity of issues related to natural resources, Hara-san expressed that one of his main challenges while researching was the inconsistency in the quality of data.
In regard to his academic interests and the challenges that he went through, his plan is to contribute to providing stable and reliable energy to people by working in an electric power company.
In terms of extracurriculars, Hara-san worked in a government office related to diplomacy for a long-term internship. The internship provided first-hand experience in global policy-making and cooperation behind the policymaking.
Most importantly, Hara-san encourages current and prospective SPSF students to challenge as much as possible. Even though some challenges could be difficult and there are always some risks of failure. However, Hara-san expressed that university is one of the last chances to fail and prepare to be successful in the future.
